David Artavia is the Executive Director of The Future Perfect Project, a national arts-based initiative amplifying LGBTQ+ youth voices through professional creative mentorship and youth-led storytelling programs.

Before leading FPP, David spent two decades shaping cultural narratives as Editor in Chief of Out and The Advocate and as a senior reporter at Yahoo News. He's been recognized by GLAAD, NLGJA, and Folio for his contributions to media. With over 15 years of experience reporting from Hollywood red carpets, national protests, natural disasters and the frontlines of cultural change, his work lives at the intersection of news, entertainment, health, and justice — driven by a belief that storytelling can build understanding, spark joy, and shift power.

Through his work, David has partnered with Fortune 500 companies, nonprofits, and media brands to shape inclusive narratives, develop employee engagement strategies, and lead high-stakes cultural conversations. At Yahoo, he reported across entertainment, politics, lifestyle, and health, while also serving as Global Co-Lead of the LGBTQ+ employee resource group, overseeing 12 global chapters and 400+ members. He has advised stakeholders on inclusive messaging, sponsorship alignment, and audience engagement during key cultural flashpoints.

David also led national newsrooms, redefining legacy brands like Out and The Advocate, and producing cross-platform projects — from Cannes-nominated podcasts to off-Broadway theater — that center historically excluded voices and move culture forward.
